Southern Roots Bar & Grille

My first time coming here after passing it many times before. I thought it was just a bar and I'm not much of a drinker. The interior is nothing to write home about but it's clean which is a bonus in my book. The wait staff was very friendly and efficient but the real star of the show was the food.Their menu is different than most places and you could tell they take pride in the food preparation. Everything was good and presented well. I will definitely be coming here again.

Ok. New to Monroe nc.Did the local tour of restaurants and this is my favorite.I’m used to higher quality food and this place doesn’t disappoint. The rest of Monroe is meh… at best.I’m grateful to have been able to find this restaurant.My only gripe would be they close at 9pm.I would recommend this place to anyone.Thank you!!

Awesome food and it came out quickly too. Great atmosphere and the staff are friendly. Definietly will be back!! The steak nachos were incredible, they actually had real hunky steak.

Best nachos I’ve ever had and they’re always consistent with the taste which is what I’m looking for. I come here just to eat the nachos. Environment is always relaxed when I come in and the service is very hospitable.

Wow! Just WOW! We found this place by chance and will DEFINITELY be back. HIGHLY recommend. We had the special (shrimp creole over rice with fried okra) and steak nachos. Fire and Ice with ranch dressing for appetizer. It's all good!! Tell Jen, the owner, the Comptons said hello!

We finally got to eat here on Friday night & it was some of the best food & service we've ever had! We had the chicken nachos, tsunami wings & raw fries. The peppercorn ranch really went well with the raw fries. Our waiter, Jeremy, was so friendly & very knowledgeable about the menu. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

Courteous, kind, and attentive staff at this awesome downtown restaurant! The food here is wonderful, and the venue is awesome. Great prices for great food. up for drinks, love music, and dining. The owner is very nice and clearly cares about customers and the place. Place is set up for lunch and dinner. Craft beer in cans or on tap. Do yourself and favor and check this place out! (They were also very kind when I accidentally flipped my tea all over the table...)

I've drove past Southern Roots many time. Finally stopped today so glad I did. One of the specials was fried Frog legs. OMG they were awesome. As was the okra. Everything my coworkers got was also good per them. Service was excellent she was extremely helpful. Looking forward to going back again to try something else. Thanks!
